Call for Nominations – Order of Nova Scotia Nova Scotians are encouraged to recognize the contributions and accomplishments of outstanding citizens by nominating, or re-nominating, individuals deserving of the Order of Nova Scotia. Nominations for the province’s highest honour are being accepted until Friday, March 17 to be eligible for consideration this year. Ceremony Commemorating our Treaty Relationship

A Ceremony to Commemorate Our Treaty Relationship was held at Government House, Halifax last evening. The ceremony, which was co-hosted by His Honour Brigadier-General The Honourable J.J Grant and Mi’kmaq Grand Chief Benjamin Sylliboy, is one of several steps in educating all Nova Scotians on our collective role as Treaty people in this province. Registration is now open for the sixth and final event of the Fall 2016 Series of Evenings @ Government House. On 28 November 2016, sixteen year-old, award-winning pianist, Jade Ley, will perform a recital.

Jade Ley is a sixteen-year-old Grade Eleven honour student from Bridgewater where she attends Bridgewater Junior Senior High School. She began piano lessons at the age of four and is currently a student of Sharon Gow-Knickle. In 2015 she received the Atlantic Regional Gold Medal from The Royal Conservatory of Music for Grade Ten piano; one of three medals from the RCM. Jade has many top awards to her credit from local music festivals and has participated in the Provincial Music Festival for the past three years.
