Ann Shaftel will give an illustrated talk on the stabilization of the King’s and Regimental Colours of the 25th and 85th Battalions, Canadian Expeditionary Force, that are on display at Government House.

Ann Shaftel works internationally for cultural, governmental and military sectors, museums, universities, and churches. She specializes in Collection Management, Documentation, Risk Assessment and Disaster Mitigation Planning. Ann teaches seminars in conservation, and works hands-on on textiles and paintings.  Ann is a Fellow of the International Institute for Conservation, Fellow of the American Institute for Conservation, member of ICOMOS, ICOM and Canadian Association of Professional Conservators.  She has an MA in History of Art, MSc in Art Conservation, and is Adjunct Scholar at Dalhousie University.   Her clients include governments of Canada, USA, India, and Bhutan; working with and lecturing for UNESCO, INTERPOL, Royal Ontario Museum, Yale University, Art Institute of Chicago, The Dalai Lama’s museums and archives, City of Halifax, Province of Nova Scotia, Canadian Department of National Defence and many more.  Ann wrote “Treasures” for the Chronicle Herald, and appears on CBC Radio Maritime Noon.
