POSTPONED - Evenings @ Government House - 1 December 2020

Due to the increasing number of COVID-19 cases in the Central Zone in Nova Scotia and acting in the interest of the health and safety of the public, the Evenings @ Government House event featuring Dr. Christopher McCreery, scheduled for Tuesday, 1 December 2020 is postponed. Registration is now open for the sixth and final event of the Fall 2020 Series of Evenings @ Government House on 1 December 2020. In June 2020, a new book entitled, Government House Halifax: A Place of History and Gathering (Goose Lane Editions) was published. Author Dr. Christopher McCreery, Private Secretary to the Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia and the author of more than a dozen other works, will speak on the history of Government House and researching the book. Gloria Stephens, a graduate of the Victoria General Hospital (VGH) School of Nursing, will present “Remembering the Victoria General Hospital School of Nursing Graduates who bravely served in the World Wars of the 20th Century”. Message of Condolence on the Passing of The Honourable Alan Rockwell Abraham, CM, ONS, CD, DCL, DEng

Mrs. LeBlanc and I were saddened to learn of the passing of the Honourable Alan R. Abraham, CM, ONS, CD, 27 th Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia. Mr. Abraham served as Lieutenant Governor from 1984 to 1989. At the time of his appointment, he was the second youngest Lieutenant Governor in Nova Scotia’s history. An engineer by training, Mr. Abraham dedicated his entire life to serving his province and its citizens. He sat on and chaired a number of boards, most notably the Izaak Walton Killam Children's Hospital, the Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo, and the 2000 Tall Ships...
