News Release: Lieutenant Governor Asks Premier-Designate to Form New Government

Lt.-Gov. J. J. Grant today, Oct. 11, received Stephen McNeil at Government House in Halifax and asked him to form a new government. He accepted the invitation and is now referred to as Premier-designate. A swearing in ceremony for the new executive council will be held in the coming weeks. On Thursday, Oct. 10, Lt.-Gov. It gives me great pleasure to extend warm greetings to all on the occasion of Treaty Day 2013. Today we affirm the bond of friendship between the Crown and the Mi’kmaw Nation and pay tribute to the rich cultural traditions of the Mi’kmaq people in Nova Scotia. Many thanks to the very knowledgeable tour guides as well as the sentries and pipers from the Cape Breton Highlanders, the Nova Scotia Highlanders and the Princess Louise Fusiliers. Government House to Host Executive Council Meeting
