In celebration of Mi’kmaq History Month, the Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia is pleased to welcome internationally renowned Mi’kmaq singing group Eastern Eagle to Government House for a performance on October 8, 2013.   This unique event is part of the Evenings @ Government House series, a free public event series hosted by the Lieutenant Governor designed to recognize civic and cultural excellence in Nova Scotia.

 

Eastern Eagle

Eastern Eagle is an internationally renowned group of Mi'kmaq singers from Canada's east coast. Since 1993, Eastern Eagle has performed at many of North America's most prestigious powwows and has also been the host drum at many powwows throughout Eastern Canada.  Eastern Eagle has worked on films with Walt Disney Pictures and CBC and been guests on several television shows as well as conducting cultural workshops for schools and government agencies.

In 2009, Eastern Eagle was nominated for Best Aboriginal Recording of the Year at the Nova Scotia Music Awards.

Eastern Eagle: Rezonation was nominated for the Aboriginal Peoples Choice Best Traditional Powwow 2010 & Aboriginal Peoples Choice Best Album Cover 2011.
