60th Anniversary of the Korean War Armistice

On the 60th anniversary of the armistice that ended the Korean War, we remember and honour the 26,000 Canadians who served in Korea and the more than 500 Canadians who lost their lives in this terrible conflict. Public Invited to Sign Book of Congratulations at Government House

Lt.-Gov. J.J. Grant and Mrs. Joan Grant extend congratulations to Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge on the birth of their son today, July 22 2013. From July 23, members of the public are invited to sign the congratulatory message book available at Government House, 1451 Barrington St., from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. until Aug. 31. The book will then be sent to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge from the people of Nova Scotia. Passing of the Honourable Alex Colville, PC, CC, ONS

It is with sadness that Mrs. Grant and I learned of the death of the Honourable Mr. Alex Colville P.C, C.C, O.N.S. Mr. Colville was an artist of extraordinary talent who used his gifts to capture significant moments in history such as Canada’s involvement in the Second World War and also the quiet moments of ordinary life in rural Nova Scotia. Government House Open for Public Tours

Visitors are invited to explore the beauty and history of North America's oldest vice-regal residence this summer. Government House will be open to the public for free guided tours on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday from July 1 to August 31, 2013 . Experienced and knowledgeable guides will take visitors on a 30 minute tour of the Main Foyer, Grand Staircase, Ballroom, Morning Room, Drawing Room and Dining Room.
