Today, 21 June 2021, is National Indigenous Peoples Day where we honour Canada's First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples; and we celebrate their heritage and culture and the special role they have in defining Canada. As we celebrate this special day, we must also recognize that policies of the past have greatly impacted the lives of Canada’s Indigenous peoples who lived and thrived on these lands for thousands of years. Anniversary of the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II

Today, 2 June 2021, marks the 68 th anniversary of the Coronation of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, Queen of Canada. The Queen acceded to the throne with the passing of her father, His Majesty King George VI, on 6 February 1952. The Coronation took place after 15 months of planning at Westminster Abbey, London on 2 June 1953.

At the end of Ramadan – the holy month of fasting – Lieutenant Governor Arthur J. LeBlanc and Mrs. Patsy LeBlanc extend their Eid Mubarak wishes to those of the Islamic faith in Nova Scotia. Eid al-Fitr, which is the festival of breaking the fast and is marked with the sighting of the crescent moon. Message of Condolence on the Passing of The Honourable Donald William Cameron, ECNS

Mrs. LeBlanc and I were saddened to learn of the passing of The Honourable Donald William Cameron, 22 nd Premier of the Province of Nova Scotia. Mr. Cameron served as Premier from February 1991 to June 1993. Mr. Cameron was born in Egerton, Nova Scotia in 1946 and he later attended McGill University where he attained a Bachelor of Science degree. He entered politics in 1974 when he won election to the Nova Scotia Legislative Assembly in the electoral district of Pictou East. Anniversary of the Crash of Stalker 22

Today we mark the first anniversary of the crash of the Cyclone helicopter, call sign “Stalker 22” that crashed into the Ionian Sea on 29 April 2020, while deployed onboard HMCS FREDERICTON as part of Operation REASSURANCE.
