Dissolution of the Legislature – 17 July 2021
On the advice of the Honourable Iain Rankin, Premier of the Province of Nova Scotia, His Honour The Honourable Arthur J. LeBlanc, Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia, Dissolved the 63rd General Assembly of the Nova Scotia Legislature, following a meeting and ceremony conducted at Government House today.
At the meeting, the Premier formally requested the Dissolution by the Lieutenant Governor and it was granted. The Lieutenant Governor signed the Proclamation that Dissolves the Legislature and initiates the election. Election Day in Nova Scotia is Tuesday August 17, 2021.
The grant of a dissolution is part of the constitutional responsibilities of the Lieutenant Governor.
