Meeting of the Mi’kmaq Grand Council at Government House – 2 October 2018

Tuesday, October 2, 2018

To reinforce the long and deep relationship that exists between the Crown and the Mi’kmaq people, the Mi’kmaq Grand Council convened their meeting at Government House today.

Following an opening prayer by a senior Keptin of the Grand Council, His Honour The Honourable Arthur J. LeBlanc, Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia, gave remarks of welcome.  Following His Honour’s remarks, Grand Keptin Antle (Andrew) Denny spoke.

It is believed that this is the first occurrence where the Mi’kmaq Grand Council has met in the official office and residence of the Queen’s representative in Nova Scotia.

The Lieutenant Governor is greatly honoured to host this meeting.
