Message from the Lieutenant Governor on Treaty Day 2017

Monday, October 2, 2017

As The Queen’s representative in Nova Scotia, it is my pleasure to extend warm greetings on the occasion of Treaty Day 2017.

To honour this special day, the Mi’kmaq Flag was raised at Government House this morning and the flag will fly there for the full duration of Mi’kmaq History Month.  There is a special relationship that exists between the Crown in Nova Scotia and the First Nations peoples of this province.  I am truly honoured to play a role in the relationship as I commence my term as Lieutenant Governor.  All Nova Scotians can celebrate and take great pride in the rich and very special Mi’kmaq history, heritage and culture that are defining characteristics of this province.

I wish you a wonderful Treaty Day and Mi’kmaq History Month.

The Honourable Arthur J. LeBlanc, ONS, QC
Lieutenant Governor
