Message from the Lieutenant Governor on Remembrance Day 2016
Each year when we gather on Remembrance Day, we pause and remember in sacred silence the sacrifice of so many killed during the horrific wars and conflicts of the Twentieth Century and the first part of this new Century. We also remember those who survived these terrible wars, but were permanently injured, not just physically but mentally also. We also pause to recognize and thank the families that gave their cherished sons and daughters.
We give thanks to the hundreds of thousands of Canadians who answered the call of duty and fought with great valour at sea, on land and in the air. Their sacrifice and commitment to fighting tyranny safeguarded our future and forged the great and much-respected nation of Canada. Though many are no longer with us in flesh, we are with them in spirit and remembrance.
Lest we forget.
