Order of Nova Scotia Investiture

Today at a ceremony at Government House, His Honour the Honourable Mike Savage, Chancellor of the Order of Nova Scotia, was pleased to invest five new members to the Order of Nova Scotia.
The newly invested members of the Order are The Honourable Darrell Dexter, Jack Flemming, Rankin MacSween, Joel Plaskett and Carolyn G. Thomas.
- Darrell Dexter, Liverpool, Queens County: former premier of Nova Scotia, municipal politician and lawyer who has offered pro bono services to community organizations
- John George (Jack) Flemming, Halifax: philanthropist and entrepreneur; recognized for his contributions to local charities and professional associations
- Rankin MacSween, Ironville, Cape Breton Regional Municipality: business and community leader who transformed a small volunteer initiative into a nationally recognized model of social enterprise
- Joel Plaskett, Dartmouth: celebrated artist, songwriter, producer, mentor and philanthropist
- Carolyn G. Thomas, East Preston: educator, human rights and community advocate; recognized for her contributions to education, government and community development.
The Order of Nova Scotia is the province's highest honor, established in 2001 to recognize individuals for outstanding contributions, achievements, or service in various fields. A maximum of six citizens are invested annually, honoring those who have made significant impacts on the community and province.
