Nova Scotia Wines Receive Award for Excellence
Four wines received the 2023 Lieutenant-Governor’s Award for Excellence in Nova Scotia Wines during a ceremony at Government House on 19 July 2023.
“The reputation of Nova Scotian wines is due to the work of talented individuals who are dedicated to the growth of our wine industry,” said Lt.-Gov. Arthur J. LeBlanc. “Their passion is reflected in the quality of their wines, and I am proud to recognize the significant and ongoing contributions of winemakers represented during this award season.”
Wineries across the province submitted up to three commercially available wines made with 100 per cent Nova Scotian grapes. An independent panel of experts participated in a blind tasting of all wines to select the top submissions for the award.
The recipients are:
-- 2016 Brut Réserve, Blomidon Estate Winery, Canning
-- 2022 Tidal Bay, Gaspereau Vineyards, Gaspereau
-- 2016 Blanc de Noirs, Lightfoot & Wolfville Vineyards, Wolfville
-- 2020 Luckett Barrel Fermented Chardonnay, Luckett Vineyards, Wolfville.
The award is administered by Taste of Nova Scotia and Wine Growers Nova Scotia in partnership with the Office of the Lieutenant-Governor.
