2021-22 Activity Report from the Lieutenant Governor
His Honour the Honourable Arthur J. LeBlanc is pleased to announce that the 2021-22 Activity Report is now available.
As Government House is the ceremonial home of all Nova Scotians, His Honour is happy to share highlights of the past year and celebrate the accomplishments of residents, despite times of uncertainty for all.
The Lieutenant Governor and Mrs. LeBlanc enjoyed meeting with Nova Scotians and visitors to the province as COVID-19 public health mandates made it possible to gather in person. Both have been inspired by the countless examples of compassion and empathy evident in communities across the province. There is no way to adequately thank Nova Scotians for their service during this time.
Based on the positive reception of virtual events, Government House also continued online outreach. Over the last twelve months, Their Honours gathered with more than 235,260 Nova Scotians online, representing 25% of our total population. This allowed individuals across the province to come together and celebrate Nova Scotia's culture, diversity, heritage and history. Notable ceremonies included the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, Emancipation Day, the Provincial Commemorative Service for His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh, and a flag raising ceremony on the 70th anniversary of Her Majesty's accession to the Throne.
At the close of the fiscal year, Government House marked the beginning of The Queen's Platinum Jubilee Year, recognizing Her Majesty's steadfast service to all Canadians and people throughout the Commonwealth. As The Queen's reign embodies the importance of commitment to one's community and country, the Platinum Jubilee provides opportunities to honour Nova Scotians who have demonstrated an unwavering dedication to family, loved ones and colleagues.
Their Honours send heartfelt best wishes to all Nova Scotians for health, happiness and peace. They look forward to meeting with residents in person over the coming months.
