Lieutenant Governor Congratulates The Queen on the 65th Anniversary of her Accession to the Throne – 6 February 2017

Monday, February 6, 2017

On behalf of all Nova Scotians, His Honour Brigadier-General The Honourable J.J. Grant, Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia has extended congratulations and best wishes to Her Majesty The Queen on the occasion of the 65th Anniversary of her accession to the throne on 6 February 2017.

In his letter to The Queen, His Honour reflected upon Their Majesties King George VI and Queen Elizabeth’s visit to Nova Scotia and Government House in 1939 and the King’s example of duty, service and dedication.  His Honour also praised The Queen for her unfailing service and sense of duty throughout her reign.

This day is normally a day of reflection and contemplation for The Queen as it is the anniversary of the death of her beloved father, His Late Majesty King George VI.

The 65th Anniversary is symbolized by the Blue Sapphire.  Queen Elizabeth II is the longest reigning monarch in British history.
