Fall Season of Evenings @ Government House

Musical performances, book launches and lectures are among the events planned for the new season of Evenings at Government House, a public event series hosted by the lieutenant-governor.

"The fall 2015 season of events at Government House promises to be entertaining, thought-provoking and has something for all Nova Scotians," said Lt.-Gov. J.J. Grant. "Mrs. Grant and I invite the public to join us in celebrating the talents and achievements of our fellow citizens." 

The public events are free and will be held at Government House, 1451 Barrington St., Halifax. People can register by e-mailing lgoffice@gov.ns.ca or calling 902-424-7001. 

Registration for each event will open two weeks before, on a first-come, first-served basis. Visit lt.gov.ns.ca for more details.

Scheduled events are:

-- lecture by Colonel John Boileau, Nova Scotia's Boy Soldiers in the Great War, Tuesday, Sept. 8, 7-8:30 p.m.
-- sculpture display as part of Nocturn art at night, Art in the Dark, sculptures by Luigi Costanzo, Saturday, Oct. 17, 6 p.m. to midnight
-- musical performance by Don Brownwigg as part of Halifax Pop Explosion, Tuesday, Oct. 20, 7-8:30 p.m.
-- reading by Mayann Francis, Mayann's Train Ride, Tuesday, Oct. 27, 7-8:30 p.m.
-- Professor Leslie Oliver, Remembering the Men of Canada's Black Battalion, No. 2 Construction Battalion, 1916-20, Tuesday Nov. 10, 7-8:30 p.m.
-- musical performance by Phoenix Community Choir, Tuesday Dec. 1, 7-8:30 p.m.
