Xara Choral Theatre

Nurtured by the Halifax Camerata Singers for five years, Xara Choral Theatre (XCT) became an independent organization in July 2013.  This new and innovative organization will be home to both Xara and Xara Youth Ensemble.

XCT is designed to provide a professional artistic environment for young women through its innovative approach to choral performance, and has consistently attracted large audiences and critical acclaim. In 2011, Xara was proud to represent Canada at the international choral event, Festival 500, and has since made appearances at the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada’s Atlantic National Event, the Titanic 100 commemoration, and as part of the 25th anniversary of East Coast Music Week.

On July 9, 2013, Xara Choral Theatre was awarded First Prize in the Equal Voice Women's Choir category of the prestigious National Competition for Canadian Amateur Choirs.
