Dissolution of the Legislature – 27 October 2024
On the advice of the Honourable Tim Houston, Premier of Nova Scotia, His Honour The Honourable Arthur J. LeBlanc, Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia, dissolved the 64th General Assembly of the Nova Scotia Legislature, following a meeting and proclamation signing ceremony conducted at Government House this afternoon.
At the meeting, the Premier formally requested the dissolution by the Lieutenant Governor and it was granted. The Lieutenant Governor signed the proclamation that dissolved the legislature and initiates a general election. Election Day in Nova Scotia will be Tuesday November 26, 2024. The grant of a dissolution is part of the constitution responsibilities of the Lieutenant Governor.
