On Tuesday, November 4th at 7:00 PM, Mark Brand, Founder of A Better Life Foundation and owner of Upward Kitchen and Café on Gottingen Street, will speak about his work to provide affordable, healthy meals to individuals living in Halifax's North End, along with communities in Vancouver. By offering frozen and hot meals, and through partnerships with organizations including the Salvation Army, the North End Community Health Centre, and the Preston Area Food Network, Mr. Brand and his team have worked to relieve food insecurity.

In Halifax, the Upward Kitchen and Café has provided over 500,000 meals, suppored jobs and training for individuals facing barriers, and created a community rooted in dignity, skill-building, and hospitality. It serves as a bridge between employment and purpose, training and opportunity, nourishment and community.
