Platinum Jubilee Year
February 6, 2022 marks the beginning of The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, recognizing Her Majesty’s 70 years of service as Queen of Canada. The Federal and Provincial Governments are planning a variety of events and celebrations for the Platinum Jubilee year to commemorate this unprecedented historic event. The themes are as follows:
- A celebration of 70 years of service to Canada;
- The Queen’s reign while Canada became a modern and diverse nation;
- A celebration of the anniversary throughout communities in Nova Scotia, and;
- Opportunities for all citizens to learn about our symbols and history.
As with Jubilees held in 1977, 2002 and 2012, Nova Scotia will mark the year-long celebration with several events and symbolic actions. Most of these activities would be coordinated through the Office of the Lieutenant Governor and the Province’s Protocol and Honours Secretariat. For example, the Lieutenant Governor’s Office has planned a series of Garden Parties in communities throughout the province, concerts, public events highlighting the Queen’s role in Nova Scotia and the acknowledgment of citizens who have served their communities.
