King Charles III delivers the Speech from the Throne

Tuesday, May 27, 2025

On May 26, Their Majesties King Charles III and Queen Camilla arrived in Ottawa in preparation for the opening the 45th Parliament of Canada. That evening, the Canadian Vice-Regal family met with Their Majesties at Rideau Hall.

The following day, King Charles III attended the State Opening of the Parliament of Canada and delivered the Speech from the Throne. This was the first time a monarch has opened Parliament in Canada since Queen Elizabeth II addressed the 23rd session of Canadian Parliament in 1957.
