Deepest Condolences to Members of the Royal Canadian Navy
It is with great sadness that Darlene and I pause to reflect on the tragic accident in the Bedford Basin, Halifax, on Friday, January 24, 2025, which claimed the life of a Royal Canadian Navy sailor. On behalf of all Nova Scotians, I offer my deepest condolences to members of the Canadian Armed Forces, family members, and loved ones affected by this loss.
Today, I am reminded of the extraordinary commitment and courage shown by members of the Canadian Armed Forces as they work to protect and serve our nation. I also think of the sailor who survived and wish them strength and a full recovery in the days ahead.
I would like to extend my gratitude and appreciation to the first responders who demonstrated exceptional bravery and professionalism in their efforts to assist. Their actions reflect the spirit of service and compassion that defines our province.
May we all hold the Canadian Armed Forces in our thoughts during this time of mourning.
