About the Event

Hope Swinimer is the Founder and Director of the Hope for Wildlife Society in Seaforth, Nova Scotia.

In 1996, Dr. Swinimer worked with the Government of Nova Scotia to develop a wildlife rehabilitation license. She later became the first person in Nova Scotia to ever receive this license.

Since that time, the Hope for Wildlife Society has rescued, rehabilitated and released more than 75,000 native Nova Scotia species. Each year, Dr. Swinimer and her team respond to more than 30,000 emergency wildlife calls and care for over 6,500 patients in their fully certified veterinary hospital, intensive care units and rehabilitation facilities.

Visitors are welcomed at Hope for Wildlife's facilities. Through interactions with staff and animals, they learn the importance of wildlife rehabilitation and living harmoniously with our natural world.

Dr. Swinimer received an honorary doctorate from Saint Mary's University for her work with wildlife. In 2019, she installed more than 109 solar panels, making the Hope for Wildlife facility completely dependent on solar energy.
