Message from the Lieutenant Governor on Treaty Day

Today we affirm the bond of friendship between the Crown and the Mi’kmaw Nation and pay tribute to the rich cultural traditions of the Mi’kmaq people in Nova Scotia.  In this centennial year of the outbreak of the First World War, let us remember the First Nations soldiers who were among the first to answer the call to serve.  Their sacrifice on the battlefields and at home is an important part of our shared history that must never be forgotten.
