Synopsis
- Visited three other provinces as Lieutenant Governor: British Columbia, Quebec and New Brunswick.
- Her Honour met with eight official foreign delegations - High Commissioners, Ambassadors and/or Consuls General - from China, Israel, St. Christopher & Nevis, Great Britain, Hungary, The United States, Lebanon and Italy.
- In her second year Lieutenant Governor Francis visited 42 different communities not including those within urban Halifax Regional Municipality. Several communities such as Bridgewater, Lunenburg, Sydney, Port Hawkesbury, Annapolis Royal, Truro, Bridgetown and Liverpool, had more than one visit. The Lieutenant Governor met thousands of Nova Scotians in her second year in office, attending approximately 275 events and hosting another 78.
- Her Honour delivered ten keynote addresses in her second year, at the Celebrating Communities Conference, Canadian Federation of University Women Atlantic Regional AGM, International Women's Day Luncheon at University Of Northern British Columbia, Western Area Women's Coalition Lunch, Bridgewater and Area Chamber of Commerce, Gerontology Association Education Conference, Federation of Seniors and Pensioners Conference, African Transition Program celebration, and at the convocation ceremonies of Mount Saint Vincent University and the Atlantic School of Theology.
- On May 15, 2008, the Lieutenant Governor was presented with a Doctorate of Humane Letters from Mount Saint Vincent University.
- In collaboration with the Saint Cecilia Concert Society, Her Honour launched the Lieutenant Governor's Concert Series. Two concerts were held in Her Honour's second year, at the Cathedral of All Saints in Halifax on February 10th, 2008, and at Strathspay Place in Mabou on May 8th, 2008.
- Her Honour presented the first four Lieutenant Governor's Community Spirit Awards to Port Morien, Clare, Annapolis Royal and Tatamagouche. She presented the first Lieutenant Governor's Faith in Action Award to Timothy Crooks of Phoenix Youth Programs. The first Lieutenant Governor's Intergenerational Awards were presented in October 2007 to the Spryfield Urban Farm Museum for Outstanding Volunteer Group; to Doris Evans for Outstanding Volunteer: Older Generation; and to Kandra Morgan for Outstanding Volunteer: Younger Generation.
- Her Honour attended over 20 religious services with various faiths and denominations throughout the province.
